It seems that the CNCzone has an abundance of active machining professionals, along with the DIY hobbiests and newbees!
I would like to suggest a sub forum in the Metal Working section for Calibration & Measurement!
Where members can discuss various types of dial indicators, micrometers, vernier calipers, digital calipers, and all the new electronics used to record the measurements in a production run for statistics! (SPC)
Do you think this is a good idea?

I'm confused!
The New forum is located under: Machine Controllers Software and Solutions
When the topic is mechanical measurement devices and calibration of them!
Why place it in software?

Found it, and posted a new thread. But why the software loc.?
I have a total output of, may be, 2 instruments a year right now, and that is a good year. This year it will be one instrument, a cnc router and a cyclone vacuum system (an exceptionally good year). I don't have enough of an output to do any kind of statistics on.
But I have worked with SPC in my day job and highly recomend it assuming you have the amount of output so it will give you useful information.
If you cut it to small you can always nail another piece on the end, but if you cut it to big... then what the hell you gonna do?
