How do I start a poll?

When you click "New Thread", there's a checkbox for the poll near the bottom.

I did that but how do I get the check boxes for people to click beside my sentences?

Its ok I figured it out...trial and error. Thanks Gar. For anyone else: After you click 'Submit Thread' a new window comes up with the option boxes for the actual poll.
