Well, Alcohol is the Best...........cleaner.........?![]()
I assume that the benzine mentioned in the poll means benzene. The two spellings are often used interchangeably although benzine with the 'i' is really a totally different solvent.
If the people who clicked on benzine are really using benzene the percentage is small but higher than it should be. Because the should be level is zero!!!
For those using benzine or benzene you should find out exactly which it is, do some Googling and find some msds information.
Benzine, if that is what is really being used is not that bad; it is not much different to gasoline or naphtha.
Benzene is a very bad carcinogen and there is really no reason why it should be used at all as a solvent where human exposure is possible.
Ethanol and Acetone here.
I mix 50/50 AR quality Ethanol and deionised water to clean lenses. It's often occured to me that if I went out and bought a bottle of 100 degree proof Smirnoff it would probably do the same job... don't think the boss would authorise the Purchase Order though
Other stuff I use is Potassium Hydroxide nasty, nasty stuff- got to treat that with a lot of respect!
Oh and Amonium Hydrogen Difluoride which is nasty too.
I love deadlines- I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
