primarilly 9600.

On some of machines, I believe it is a changeable setting.

The Enshu, Moir Seiki lathe, and the Sharp we use 96000.

On the big Mori Seiki mill we are using 2400, because we couldn't get any thing else to work, and had to change channels to get that. I was just glad to get communication after typing things in by hand for 3 or 4 months.

On the HAAS SL20 & SL30, and the Okuma mill we just use the floppy.

eng_semsem1980:

I assume by your question that before you reloaded your software that you had successful RS232 communication, and that nothing else changed.

At your CNC machine determine the following settings:

Number of Data bits
Baud rate
Parity
Number of Stop bits
Handshake method (Software (XON/XOFF or DC codes or Xmodem), or Hardware (RTS/CTS) )

Use these same settings at the computer.

Report back what happens and what these values are.

DryRun:

Why do you operate at such a low baud rate?

Most of our machines that are still on rs 232 are at 9600. Some of the very old machines from the 80s may still be at 4800, all the new moris, mazaks etc are on network or USB. The okumas use the floppy still. Mori server is included now with all the new machines, that works very well.
