Criteria for selecting a CNC Router

Hello,

I am considering purchasing a CNC router for working with sheets of plywood and MDF. In a twist of circumstance there may be the need for some detailed hardwood work as well.

My budget is flexible, but not huge.

What criteria do people use when selecting a system?
