Cut stops and starts along cut path.

I have an older PlasmaCam machine that sometimes refuses to cut areas along the cut path. I've tried retracing the path and it stops and starts cutting at the same point everytime. The torch continues to work along these points but it just does not cut. I'm running a Hypertherm torch.

Anyone here have a clue why this happens?

    Frustrated,

    John

Are you saying that the torch is firing but not cutting through?
Then the metal has a bad spot in it. It happens.

This has happened to me several times recently.

In my case, it was worn consumables or blowback material stuck to the torch tip. I can usually just pass a piece of cardboard over the tip to make sure it's free of debris, back 'her up and hit the start button.
