    Router Arm for plasmacam

I'm looking for the attachment to hook up a router for my plasmacam table. I guess plasmacam no longer makes them.
    thanks liz

I appologize for digging up such an old thread, but has anyone found/made a router mount for the plasmacam? Have been looking online, but with no luck yet (although I did find this website )

Which model Plasmacam do you have? The 98-Z, DHC, DHC2/Samson have different holders.

Adding a router would produce a 2D machine, right? And, not able to compensate for tool diameter?

Correct, it would only work as 2d, but you can account for the kerf width/compensate for the tool diameter with the settings in plasmacam

here is my attempt at putting a dewalt router on my Pcam. this is not permanent but it was the easiest way to just test things out and see that it would work. what im going to do is build a holder that bolts into the same spot as the torch but will allow this to be much lower then the gantry. right now i can only cut something under 3/8 because the bearings on the gantry bottom out on the surface. i should have some more pictures later this weekend when i get a new mount built.

its a little tricky to control the router as the software was never designed to do such a thing. if any one is interested ill post the list of settings you need to change to get it to work. i still dont have it dialed in to where its making parts the right size but i think i just have the offsets set wrong.

the router is just the cheapest one they had at lowes think it was $90 all i did was take off the adjustable base plate and used a bolt to mount it to the rear end of the torch holder. this set up works but you have to completly take the torch out of its holder so upon reinstalling it the torch will have to be squared and off sets reprogramed.

    hope this helps

I strapped a Dremel to my carriage and cut. I have problems with it going all the way through the material and comming up and then moving on. I've messed with the pierce and pierce length but there must be something I'm not seeing. If you have a successful setting I'd really like to see it.
I think I'm just going to go with a router. I have a DHC. Will the Z-motor take it ok?
