Plasma Cam owners, Is it possible to hand draw, scan and convert the drawing to a useable cut path with the Plasma Cam software? I have been helping a friend with his PC software and we always end up with a jagged or distorted drawing. Perhaps it is just lack of experience or is it even possible to get a good conversion? Thanks Magma-joe Last edited by magma-joe; 12-27-2010 at 10:21 AM. |

| First make sure you are using a black marker such as a fine Sharpie. A pencil will leave gaps in your lines. Make sure your scanner is set to at least 300dpi resolution. The higher the resolution the less pixelated the lines will be. A low resolution will have big blocky lines like stair steps. After I scan the drawing I open the image in Windows Paint. I the "save as" a monochrome bitmap. Then I will look at the outline and draw lines in any gaps with the pencil tool. The scanner will often not pickup a few lines. After the gaps are closed I use the flood fill tool and fill in the inside as a black silhouette. Save. Open the Plasmacam program and follow the steps for importing. george |
