    Cutpath Conversion Settings

    Hey guys,

I'm having a little trouble dialing in the cutpath conversion settings, i'm doing some fairly intricate work and need the pierce lead in at its minimum but as i messed with this a little bit it seems to deform the entire cutpath. I was wondering if possibly it could be a problem with the offset but i haven't touched it. If anyone wants to post their cutpath conversion settings, it would be greatly appreciated.

Another issue I'm having that I feel may be related is, I imported a logo from a local college and it had the letter R in it. To keep the middle of the R, I made a couple of bridges so it would not drop out, when I went to convert it to a cutpath, it showed no pierce point, no end of loop gap, no kerf offset but it turned dark blue, telling me it is a cutpath. help.

The "R" is an Open Path or unjoined lines. You have to join the lines together where you broke them to make the bridge. Select the line and then LINK SEGMENTS. Then convert to cut path

You have to measure the KERF that your torch makes. The KERF is the width of the cut your torch makes. One half of that KERF width is the 'OFFSET DISTANCE'. You need to find out the kerf of your torch. Make a cut and use a digital caliper that has an inside diameter measurement feature. You can get a cheap digital caliper at Harbor Freight.
Once you have that measured, just select Convert to Cut Path and click on the outside border of your design and the software will automatically convert the inside paths to cut paths. The Lead-in length will also automatically shorten to fit in small holes. Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you are converting the inside cuts one at a time.

Thanks for all the help. I went back and looked at that file that I had mentioned and for some reason it still doesn't want to offset the letter that I manipulated (the "R" in RIT). I imported this image from a .bmp and am wondering if this may have something to do with it? Because the other two letters offsetted just fine while the R didn't offset at all. (if this is confusing i could make a video of what's going on and post it to youtube and see if that helps you, help me) again, many thanks,

You have to LINK SEGMENTS. The R that you fixed up is an OPEN PATH.

I definately did this. I selected the whole thing, pressed K and it yeilded the same results. I exploded the letter and linked it again, same thing.
