Is the motor lined up with what ever you are driving (ballscrew etc) if it is fighting itself it might make noise.
Good luck Mike
For my new cnc table wich I 'm planning to use as a heavy duty routerI'm using a motor direct to the rack with no reduction , to avoid the belt backlash, but it is vibrating and making loud noises, any solution for that?

I am sorry you are using rack and pinion like me the only time mine made a lot of noise is when I had the gear mesh to tight try to loosen it up so you have a few thou clearance and see if this helps then you can keep going tighter to get it where you like.

Thanks for help Mike, I did loose it from the rack, and change steps resolution, speed, acc, but still got the noise in some places, always when jogging or in the fast moves between cuts. When the machine is cutting it is ok, and is cutting really fine.
I've builded another 4 machines (4x8 plasmas) with belt reduction and have not problem.
Thanks
Luis
Most likely your inertia ratio is too high without reduction on a rack and pinion requires the use of an extremely large motor.
