i want to build a 4foot by 4 foot plasma table what do i need.

how many motors for the x and y axes?

do i really need the plasma torch to rasie up and down?

is this kit right for what i want? 3 axis Nema23 stepper motor 425oz-in& Drivers CNC controller kit Longs Motor | eBay

what sofware and where to get it?

The requirements for your cutting table build depend on your end needs.

-How many motors? Most machines use a motor on each side of the gantry, another to drive the torch carriage (some call the gantry "x", some call it "y")....and another motor for the z axis (height control)

- For best cut quality and consumable life.....or if you plan to program multiple parts...push the start button and walk away....then you need a fully featured arc voltage based height control. I recommend it.

-Do some research....there are a few kits out there, but by far the most popular kits aimed at plasma cutting are from www.candcnc.com . Search their site and you will learn a lot. Software (CAD and CAM) are there as well.
