Smile My little project

I've been making lots of progress lately and decided that the time has come to share my results with the forum that's been a great help to me along the way.

My research and parts gathering began in December of '06, but I didn't actually start the build until June 25, 2007.

My gantry is supported and driven from one end and there is some flex I'm working to eliminate. I haven't made the slats yet, but in the meantime, it does work! The little wrench was cut from 10ga. with a standard nozzle, wirebrushed and painted.

Hey Pyrotechncal,
Looks great so far. Are you following any drawings if so could you share them?
Also do you plan to paint it?
What kind of plasma cutter are you using? Sorry for all the questions but Im getting ready to build my own table.

Very nice construction work on your project!

You certainly have been busy the last few weeks, and the research shows wonderful results.

Thanks for sharing the fine photos of your great work.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I have been busy.

I'm using a Hypertherm 1000, and recommend it highly. I'm sure there are other models that would be good too, but on upgrading from a Hypertherm 600, the 1000 is worth double the price difference between the two.

Paint will be applied after I've finished construction and modifications.

I'm not working from plans of any sort, but rather figuring things out as I go. If you're curious about any specific dimensions don't hesitate to ask.

hi

Pyrotechnical very nice machine , keep up the good work.

What motherboard are you using ? can not work it out from the pictures. I'm assuming you have height control ? on the Z-axis or are you setting this parameter manually for the different thickness of metal being cut.

cheers

I'm not sure what you mean by "motherboard." The breakout board is a C10.

No automatic THC at this time.

Cool Plasma machine

Hi Pyrotechnical,
It's a great project. You use manual or machine system for hypertherm 1000
Is it possible to share the wiring diagram of hyperthem1000 with parallel port.? How to connect? I am going to build plasma machine same as you.

Cheers,
Mongkol

I'm not sure what you are asking. The torch is a manual torch.

Are you asking how the plasma cutter is turned on and off? I ran an output from the breakout board to a switching transistor that activates a relay that is connected to the plasma cutter. The Hypertherm 1000 has inputs for remote start, but according to the manual they are inactive if a manual torch is connected. I'm sure there's a way around that, but in the interest of expediency I spliced into the same wiring that the manual torch switch uses.

I am not sure.I refer from http://www.hypertherm.com/languages/...h/products.php. They shows both mechanized and manual torch.for powermax1000.

Yes,I am little puzzled with turn on and off system. What port and pin of DB-25 can turn on or off the torch of plasma? if I use mach3

Mongkol
