New Build questions

I am ordering the Bladerunner kit from Tom, and the K2 Z axis. Going gear rack and V rail.
Need advise on belt reduction:

Belt Reduction Drives
or

CNCRouterParts

What size V rail do I need?
table will be 5' x 8'. I am using 3" 80/20 extrusion and 1/2" aluminum plate for the gantry.
Anyone got an ideas on where to order the rail and gear?

Joe,
I found my reductions, rack and pinion with motiontek, and rails with linear motion. I believe both advertise here. Depending on what type of cutting your going to do, take time to shoot Tom an email to get help selecting your reductions. I think you will be happy with CandCNC products as well as the K2 Z axis, both were my choice and I can't say enough about the products. Take time to look at precision plasma products. They seem to have lots of knowledge.
I built my own system and many times wished I would have went with one of precision plasma systems. I personally created myself more work than necessary. Take time to read posts, you will find lots of info and designs that you can incorporate into your own build, and everyone seems to jump in and help.
Good luck and have fun with your build.

track size

Joe,
I need to correct myself, I said linear motion, when the company I used was modern linear (phone 415-924-7938) Can't remember the fellas name, but he was very informative and helpful. Fast shipping. I ended up using mismatched track and rollers which works fine. I believe it was number 2 track with 3 rollers or visa versa. Take time to look up the site, pay close attention to the eccentric mounting bolts if you are to use over and under bearings in your design. Not to sway you away, but if I was to do it over again I would use a simpler design. Take a hard look at torchmate 2x2 video's on you tube. I like the design, simple, and so much cheaper. More or less Millman52's concept only with two flat bars. Cold roll seems to have a nice smooth finish and my guess would run as well as any V rail systems out there. Hopefully others will chime in with their knowledge and experience.

Got Toms dragon cut system, K2's z axis, racks from Moor gear and CNCrouterparts belt reductions ordered. I also have all the main materials here at the shop for the table, gantry, Aluminum water tray, and slats. Still debating on rails.
I like this idea,Integrated Aluminum Extrusion and Rail System | Integral V Technology
Any thoughts?
