Dear All, I'm newbie at stepper motors and picstep. I'd like to drive 3 stepper motors with PicStep. I prepared 3 Picstep and i need to choose powersupply. My motors are : http://www.kelinginc.net/KL23H276-30-8B.pdf Keling 280 oz-inch Nema23 8 Wires 3V 3A. So, what kind of power supply should i select? What do you advice? Voltage, Amps, classic or smps? (Toroid is difficult to find for me )Thanks in advance, Cooper |

| I am in exactly the same situation - same motors and same driver board. SMPS runs well over $100 once you get into the higher voltages unless you can scrounge something. A hammond 165S25 25V 10A transformer runs $86 at Newark, then add bridge plus filter caps plus chassis. That is 115V primary though - what is the mains voltage where you are? Toroidal transformers are not really necessary, they are mostly just smaller and lighter. I am going to start with three 12V 10A/h lead acid cells that I have kicking around in series, with a small 1A charger, which should be able to run for a few hours. I will worry about a proper PS later. |
