You can provide 5v to your pics via pin 9 on each of the interface connectors. Have you read this?

Hi every body.
I build 3x Picstep v4 from fromorbit and one 4 Axis PC interface from pminmo![]()
I have a big problem !!!
The motor don't work (vibration), i use stepper motor (astrosyn 2.6v 2A/phase)
My alimentation for the card (3x picstep + 1x 4axis interface) is a 25v 12A.
I don't have 5v for the pic !, but if i run a cnc program, the stepper motor Vibrate !
I thinks the problem is the "brake", but i'm not sure !
Have you a information ? Anybody has you he already made this assembly (picstep and 4 axis interface) ?
Thnaks for your help
Merci pour votre aide !
ps: for the resoator i use murata's CSTLS_20

hi,
I don't look that !
But whatdo you mean here ?:
2. Using the 4 axis interface, there needs to be jumpers added to power the Pic on the Picstep. (where ??)
3. On the opto isolated interface board, you will need a seperate isolated 5VDC source to power the opto isolator output and the PIC. (???? i don't understand)
Thanks
It's spelt ALAN! Not Allan, Alyan, Allen, Alen, Ahlan, Ahlen, or Phalan (silent Ph)!Originally Posted by pminmo
Plus the 10 pin IDC isn't backwards, it's orientation on the board is reversed. Pin 1 on the opto still goes to Pin 1 the PICStep. :P
Reversing the connector could be fatal (pin 9 -> pin 1) and kill both the opto and the PIC.

Alan!
well,
1- 5v to pin 14 of the pic16f ==> OK
2- 5v to pin 14 of the lmd's ==> OK
3-Information in pin 11 & 10 of the lmd's ==> OK
But, the motor run only 15 secondes in ON position ! After it's don't work !
I remove in the picstep 10k R5,R6 (only in one board) ......... no change !
Have you another tips ?
merci
5V to the pin 1 (enable (brake)) is Necessities ?

Alan is fixed......... My bad.
Pin 1 (enable) for each axis on the 4 axis board needs to be jumpered or connected to the db25, depending on software and how you want to use it.

You also might be overloading the LMD's and they are thermal shutting down after 20 seconds (they're very smart little devices and can handle a fair amount of abuse). Do you have adequate heatsinking? What voltage does your power supply spit out? What current limiting resistors do you have the LMD's set to? What sized motor are you driving? Are any coils shorted?

Indeed, it's funny it's just one of those things that REALLY annoys me.Originally Posted by ynneb
No annoyance at or on Pminmo's part, just before I read/answered this thread I had answered about 10 PICStep emails all spelling my name wrong. It was the last straw on the camels back.![]()
