| I am trying to program a PIC18F4431 to do PWM outputs. and I am haveing a problem with the terminology. PWM period = PWM Time Base Peroid Regester (PTPER) so what the heck is PWM Time Base Register (PTMR)? the datasheet isnt clear on this, when reading it I assumed that the time base regester controlled the period of the PWM cycle but reading further down the Time Base Period Register does it! I am so confused perhaps someone can elaborate on the difference. it would be much apreciated. thank you |

| Do you really need to be writing data to those two registers? I have written a Bipolar controller for a 16 series PIC and only needed to configure Timer2, and do the steps outlined in paragraph 15.5.3 of the datasheet and you should be home and dry. I get the feeling that the registers you are talking about are used by the PIC itself during the PWM process and shouldn't be fiddled with. |
