Servo motors are normally driven by a servo amp which takes an analog signal(typically between +/- 10v with tach(velocity) and encoder(position) feedback for closed loop control) . Step and direction are digital outputs to a stepper motor controller(Open loop, but some systems are going toward closed loop with encoder feedback). There may be some brushless servo drivers that will take step and direction, but they are quite expensive.

What kind of project are you planning?

    DC

Quite simple, set up a PID algorithm on the PIC. The STEP input will increment or decrement the target position depending on the DIR input.

I'm planning to build a cnc machine .I will use DC servo motors and want to use pic microcontroller to drive these motors.
If you know how to deal with the analog signals please tell me
    and
What is the software should i use?
