Hello, I have many quality DC servo motors with attached optical encoders and was keen on using a microcontroller to control a 3-axis machine. Maybe using Mach3. Is this there any chips that you could recommend to use. Cheers, Brett. |

| Personally I've played around with the PIC18F2431/4431. It's quite cool with hardware quadrature decoder/counter and its power control PWM module. If you need more "power" there are similar PICs available in the higher end series as well. I'm sure other manufacturers will have similar chips. |

| Hello everyone. I am new to the forum, this is my first message here. Please excuse my way of expressing myself. Just saying that there are, for some time, absolute encoders on a chip. They have different resolutions depending on the model (8 .. 13 bits). It operates through a magnet to find the angle. With a single PIC can control all absolute encoders need. The simplest example is the AM256 (8 bits) of the company RLS. Best Regards. |
