Fanuc Robodrill RPC & 100 AMP Service.

Hey there people,

So it comes time that I hook up my fanuc robodrill 1998 t14.

I have some questions about what I need to do to make sure my machine runs well and I do not have any problems. I am a huge fan of the phase perfect model, but at this time I do not think I can afford the unit with all the expenses I have so far.

My problem is is that my electrician says the most he wants to pull off of my 100 amp service is 60amps for the garage 220v. My question is, would 60 amps be enough to run a 15hp rpc for my robodrill, it has a 7.5hp spindle motor.

Also my other question since there are a lot of horror stories about phase converters destroying cnc equipment. Would a phoenix phase converter unit of 15 hp on a 50-60amp breaker be sufficient, or should I just stretch my credit and go with the phase perfect unit.

It's a tricky situation and I don't want to wreck my machine, but money's tight.

I had also heard that Fanuc controllers are very voltage sensitive, would this mean rpc could destroy my machine?

Thanks

60 amps is fine for a 15hp soft start converter. Run the recommended size wire from the breaker to the RPC. It is much heavier than what is necessary for 60amps alone. The initial start up surge is large and the heavier wire helps. Talk to your RPC manufacturer.
