Has anyone come across this in the past A CNC I've just go in my posssion has 3 AC motors as the drive AXIS motors They are 3 Phase 2kw units with an extra shaft out the back for an encoder. At first I didnt think that it could be right and checked the drives as well as motor codes. They are a standard Yaskawa unit. I couldn understand this being common place in a production line unit. The other wierd part is there doesnt seem to be a DC brake fitted anywhere. Which to me would make perfect sence in this situation? Thanks |

| Yes most industrial AC servo motors are 3P x 200V I have used 100s of them if you have Yaskawa thay are one of the best there is. The machine usally has a brake only on the Zaxes sometimes its built into the motor sometimes its built into the machine If you have a brake in the motor it will be about 60/70mm longer than a motor that does not have a brake
