I have a denford orac lathe and the spindle motor is 0.37Kw 1400 rpm 380-420v. what specs do i need to look for when buying a vfd for this motor? Any help would be great.

Do you have 380 or 440 3 phase?
You just need one that covers the rating of the motor.
If you are hoping to run off 1 phase VFD input, you may be out of luck if the motor is 440v.

its actualy a 230v 3 phase, so if i get a vfd that is 110 single phase input, and 230 3 phase output, and it has a high enuff amp rating (2.5) for this motor then it will work?
I would purchase the 240v model and hook it into 240 1 phase, check the manufacturers literature as to any de-rating when used on 1 phase, some require it, some do not.
So it may require a slightly larger capacity, depending on make/model.
