We're going to purchase a 2.5KW laser and the laser, chiller and dust collector use 460 3ph 60Hz power, about 150A total. My question is, if we get a step-up converter will we need a 400A sevice? No free lunch I'm assuming, but thought I'd ask if there is a way.  |

| And how many KVA should I be looking for... Can I use a step-down transformer as a step up? |

| to work out 3 phase kVA required, multiply volts x amps x 1.73 and divide by 1000. ie 400 x 10 x 1.73 = ??? /1000 = ??? kVA |
