| I am looking for help with choosing a spindle motor for large engravings in hardwood. I have heard about vfd's for speeding up spindles. Does anyone have experience with this? Do I even need this? What is the best bang for the buck? What brand of motor? What type? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am in the process of building a 4x8 CNC table. Thanks, Bob |

| Bob, VFD's work with threee phase motors and AC servos, you can obtain very high speeds with the later, but are limited to about 5000 rpm with a normal 3 phase motor. Your best bet for a router is to use a router like a porter cable or similiar, speed control is cheap and easy and the motor can spin much faster then a VFD adn 3 phase motor would be able to put without gearing. There a few vendors out there that sell a mounting adaptor to the PC base. chris |

| There are very high speed 3 phase spindle motors that will operate up to 20k rpm. There cost however is high. Al.
