    Hitachi X200 OPE-SR keypad

Has anyone hooked one up and used the "ope-sr"
    keypad for their vfd?
The owners manual does not show the wiring for the
hook up between the drive and the ope-sr.
It does show that pins 5+6(rcv+trns data), are needed for a modbus configuration and to not connect the others, but no wiring diagram for just using the keypad. So i tried this and
have just the 5+6 pins wired from the keypad to the drive and the ope-sr won't function.
common sense tells me to wire all 8 pins on each rj-45 alike and call it quits but I hate taking chances.

    thanks for your help

for future ref,,the standalone keypad is a plug and play unit.
The cable needs to be a standard cable,cat5,and no program changes
    on the the drive.
