    vfd to run multipal machines

    Hi just wanted to know if ther is a way to put a vfd on the wall wire it to a panel and feed multipal machines.

    all start and stopping would be done with the magnetic starter on the machines.

    is it possable and what over size would i need if the biggest motor is 22 amp 240 volt

    Not really a good idea, ideally the VFD is tuned for a particular motor, also there would be a danger of picking a motor up with the output of the VFD in run, which should never be done, the recommended way of stop/start is by the VFD low signal inputs.
    Especially if you want to run more than one machine at a time, a phase convertor may be the way to go, either static or RPC.

    One VFD, one motor. NO contactor or switch between the motor and the VFD. Read some VFD manuals. Or fry them.

    It may be possible to run some motors in parallel, but never switch the wires to any motor while it is powered up. An expensive silicon based fuse you will soon discover.
    Super X3. 3600rpm. Sheridan 6"x24" Lathe + more. Three ways to fix things: The right way, the other way, and maybe your way, which is possibly a faster wrong way.

    The only way I have done it successfully is to run two identical motors alternately with a change over contactor between motors and VFD, but this involved logic interlocking with the run/stop and setting an output to read At-Zero-Speed.
