Did you set it for 2 pole motor?
Al.
Hi All,
I just took delivery today of a Chinese 2.2kw spindle with VFD (See link eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace)
I have followed the instructions that came with the VFD which were to set
PD13 set to 8 = Reset
PD05 set to 400 (Max operating Frequency)
PD04 set to 400 (Base Frequency)
PD03 set to 400 (Main Frequency)
I have done this but when I run at 400 Hz I seem to only be getting 11520 RPM rather than 24000.
By the way I am reading the RPM by pressing the mode button so that the ROTT light is on, but I am not sure how the VFD would know what RPM the spindle was doing, so maybe the spindle is running at 24000 RPM
PS. I have the 220V version of the VFD.
Can anyone help me out here, have I missed a setting or does the VFD wrongly report the RPM.
Regards
Simon

Hi Al,
I only set what I described in my post. How do I set for two pole motor and what does that do?
Thanks
Simon
I just found this in the manual
PD143 Motor Pole Number
Set Range:02—10 Unit:1 Factory Setting:04
This suggests that the Factory default is 4 Pole. Should I set PD143 to 2?
I have not used that particular VFD, but a 2 pole motor runs at twice the rpm of a 4 pole on the same frequency.
There should be a base motor set up in the VFD parameters.
A two pole motor runs at 24000rpm on 400hz, a 4 pole 12000rpm.
Yours should be set for 2 pole.

OK I tried setting PD143 to 2 pole but I still get 11520RPM.
Any other suggestions??
Thanks
Simon
On most VFD's you can set the display for various readouts, such as frequency, rpm current etc.
Try setting it to Frequency and see if it is 400hz?

Thanks Al,
I found the answer to my question here. http://www.woodworkforums.com/f170/t...d-users-96380/
Here are the settings that are factory default.
PD010 = 6.5 (Min Voltage)
PD144 = 1772 (Rated motor Revolution)
I changed these as follows
PD010 = 8
PD144 = 3000
8 x 3000 = 24000 RPM
My VFD now shows 24000 RPM and sounds more like what I expected.
I will have to book mark that one!
Glad you got it going.

HI, I am trying to run a motor at 1750 RPM, at the begining the drive was showing me 24000 RPMin the screen, but my motor was running at 1750 rpm.
I changed the seting as you say below:
PD010 = 8 (Min Voltage)
PD144 = 218 (Rated motor Revolution)
8 X 218 = 1740 and it worked, now I see 1750 RPM in my screen but now my motor is not running, what should I do?
Thabk you!
