I'm seeking to purchase a VFD to power my 3-phase 7.5 hp motor from my single phase panel. Is there a favored supplier, e.g. Omron, Hitachi, Yaskawa, or . . . ? I'm using a 1500W Omron unit for a mill and have been pleased with it but once you go to higher horsepower motors the pickings seem to get slim. Advice welcome. |

| Once you get above 5hp there are fewer VFD suppliers that provide 1 ph input, I know WEG offer a wide range of 1 phase VFD's without de-rating, and they are nice units. Al.

I'm using a Saftronics (Yaskawa) on my mill and I have another Yaskawa I plan to use on my lathe. Parts are fairly easy to get on ebay and you can disable the phase detection. Another nice thing is that it's easy to get manuals and parts lists off their website. It's an 'off label' use, but I haven't had any problems. Derate it by at least a third. Mike |
