A friend has offered (both for the same price) to sell me a motor for me to make my RPC with. His two motor choices are below. I will be running (not necessarily all at once) a manual 1hp Bridgeport, 2 Boss 5 2hp CNC Bridgeports, a DoAll 1hp bandsaw, ~6hp total. I already took him up on the 10hp before I saw this new forum. Should I reconsider? I like the 10hp since its smaller, draws less current, and the higher rev's should be a slight phase angle advantage (if I would notice it). It should be adequate for me for a while until I get a VMC someday with a larger motor. I thought the 15hp may have been a little quieter. But it draws a lot more current. The 10hp I already have an adequate line to supply it. I am replacing a 2hp converter if anyone is interested in that one. 1) 10hp, 240V 26A 3650 rpm 2) 15hp, 200V, 45A 1700 rpm |

| All the information feedback I got when I built mine was a 4 pole 1700 motor was preferable, evidently it is easier to tune and initially get up to speed. But regarding size, you can run up to twice the HP of the converter if it is a 3ph motor load, as long as the largest motor is no larger than the converter motor. Here is another link I used. http://www.metalwebnews.com/howto/ph-conv/ph-conv.html Al.

| My understanding is that the converters are rated on the size of the motor they can START. You can run motors several times the rated horsepower of the phase converter. So, a two horsepower phase converter might actually be able to handle your entire six horesepower load. If you start them one at a time. I am not an electrician, nor do I play one on TV. Ken
