is 6,00RPM fast enough to mill PCBs?

I have the loan of a Proxxon BFW 40/E router which is a lovely bit of kit (very quiet & plenty of strength for the small jobs I do), the thing is, it only turns at 6,000RPM max - I was hoping to mill PCBs soon...will this lower RPM be sufficient to yield reasonable results?

Hank,

Ya 6k will get the job done, but not as quickly as 60k. Just take it easy on the feed rate, and it will work out fine.

at 6000 RPM try to limit the linear feed rate to less than 10 mm /second and even that may be too much for the cutter you are going to use.

Try to find what the chip load per rev your tool can handle and accordingly calculate feed rate at 6000 rpm.

On my bridgeport I run 3000 RPM and it works fine. I have to keep it around 10 ipm or it starts cutting corners due to the huge table and vise its throwing around, so I can't say how fast you can go, but it will work fine.

10 inches per minute is approximately 4 mm per second.
