As far a CNC controls, there are numerous implementation of the ATAN function. Some machines do the two argument form and others do the single argument form. Others implement both versions (with different function names). Common function names for the atan function are ATN, ATAN, ATAN2, ARG, DTF, etc. One has to RTFM to know what your machine expects. Then one has to test that info to know what your machine actually does.
