Tapping Macro ? Is it possible ?

Hi All ! We bought a used Mori Seki CL203 Lathe. Tried to tap on it using G32 and it closed up the hole by .01 to .015. We called the seller and he said you cant Rigid Tap or use G32 on this machine. So my question is, Is it possible to create a macro or longhand program for a 5/16-24 thread? And if the lathe is not syncing with the F word in the G32 code would the program have to be a macro or longhand ? Possibly I'm screwed and have to use a floating tap which I'm trying to stay away from. Thanks In Advance....

I think you have a problem unless you can find some way to sync using macro tricks with G/M codes. Perhaps something to do with single point threading...

The rest of it should be easy to program as a macro.

I hear what your saying. Thats the whole problem. How would I attempt to try to single point using a tap ? No pull out. Then I have the same problem that I have now with the tap pulling the material.

You have to use floating tap holder, with G32.
It is not that G32 cannot be used.
Rigid taps can only be used if you have rigid-tapping option on your machine.
Macro would be of no help with regard to synchronization, in the absense of rigid-tapping.

On my swiss lathe I use this macro to cross tap as the cross tools dont have the rigid tap option. It works like a charm.

As stated above you need to use a floating tap holder.

#100=250 (RPM)
#101=.025 (FEED)
#102=[#100*#101]
G0 G98 X# Z# M23S#100
C0.
G4U.5
G1X-.36F#102
M24S#100
G4P5
X.3
G0X1.496 T0

if you're using it on a lathe you would need to change x with z. also you'll probably need to change m23 to m3 and m24 to m4
