    Hi Tumut Bound,
Welcome to a fellow Ozie. Just been put on to this reprap by Hoss in this group. Mind if I ask acouple of questions. Are you buying all the gear from Automation Technologies. What electronics the RAMPS 1.4? How long a lead time before the order was shipped and what was the shipping charge?
    Cheers

    Hi Ray,
Well placed my order for the mechanicals yesterday, Sounds like I have ordered the same electronics as you from EBAY RaMPS 1.4 Ultimate kit) and am going with the QU-BD dual extruder (Back order). I was wathching your video earlier this morning (didn't make the connection at the time).
I dont know Jack yet but have you had a look at this Reprap development and further adventures in DIY 3D printing: Slic3r is Nicer - Part 1 - Settings and Extruder Calibration
This seems to deal with slicer but I am guessing repetier has something similar and I was wondering about your first layer hight and speed might be your problem.
    Cheers Mal

    Default OrdBot hadron build

Repetier-host allows you to use Slic3r or Skeinforge for slicing
so you can choose either to do the slicing.

Make sure you have the steppermotor drivers on the RAMPS
I scratched for a while when motors wouldn't move then realized
I got RAMPS board without polulu driver boards

Check out buildnet Hadron Build (ATI kit) quick heads up

buildlog.net • View topic - Hadron Build (ATI kit) quick heads up

for ATI BOM and top level drawings for assembly
    No instructions in ATI box
and what fasteners to use where is not well documented.

You should look for some endstop switches to have ready for hook up
Mechanical switches or optical, hall effect. Need 3 for home position.

I have built -- rebuilt -- and fixed it a bunch
and got alot of improvements for the next rebuild

Just ask if you have questions?

    Ray

    Hi Mal,
Sorry for the delay in answering, I don't check cnczone as often as a I used to - got fed up with the constant spam.

I ordered a complete Hadron kit, mechanical and electronics from ATI on 15/09, I received it about 1 month later. It was shipped in two boxes, shipping for each via USPS was around $69.
I bought some extra bits and pieces (extra stepper drivers, end stop switches and an LCD display) from eBay seller reprapdiscount.
I've still to tackle the electronics side of things, other stuff keeps getting in the way.

Default Ordbot Hadron alignment Y square to Z

There is really nothing on the Ordbot Hadron to square (90deg) Y axis to Z axis.
The connection of Z frame to Y axis is very sloppy and can be well off square
and move in the life of the printer, after moving printer.

Anybody got any suggestions on how to square the Hadron and keep it that way?

    Tnx
    Ray

Just finished the mechanical build of a Ord Bot Hadron. I ordered it from ATI. Received it in two days. The kit was complete without any missing parts or shipping damage. I had one question during the build that I emailed at 7 or 8 o'clock at night, an answer came a few minutes later. Before I ordered the kit I looked around a lot. The kit had all the upgrades included, for the price and delivery time I found this to be a very good value.

I also ordered Ramps 1.4 Ultimate kit from RepRapDiscount. Again delivered from China in two days. I have not received the extruder or hot end yet.

I have tested the steppers and loaded new firmware to the ramps board.

So far I have been impressed with the quality and value for the items I have received to date.Build of ORD Bot Hadron-my_ord_bot-jpg
