Here's an interesting link to a page showing how to use inkscape and a plugin to create g-code. It worked for me. http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emc...?InkscapeHowto Dan |

| It is cunning idea, though in larger projects, using segmenting curves to represent lines will slow down Inkscape. [I used Inkscape to design a guitar. It's a fine program, but for a fairly large project I noticed some slowdowns on a reasonable machine.] Converting the curves to lines will mean more file management: one as a source, another to be CAM'ed. Pushing the idea further. allowing the plugin to G-code curves might be a good thing for people who do a lot of 2D sheet metal work. |

I downloaded Inkscape. I wish to use the plugin "G-code" Cannot figure out how to get the plugin to load into proper area. I am on a Mac and know my way around. Extension does not show in extensions folder so I am assuming I didn't do something right ![]() I normally hand code my programs, just thought this combination of programs might save my 76 year old gray matter. |

| I know Mac's like I know rocket surgery but..... That wiki page has a few gcode-from-inkscape extensions. One of them (provided by Glenn Harris?) is possibly corrupt. The one listed at the top (gcode_tools) is the newest, and in my opinion the best. The developer doesn't list Mac as one of the systems it runs on. If it does run on Mac he'd probably be interested in knowing.

| The gcode extensions then show up in the extensions menu. That probably isn't the correct way, but it works. |

| Works on Windows The conversation has moved New export to Gcode plug-in for Inkscape download can be found here http://www.cnc-club.ru/forum/viewtop...&t=35&start=20 One of the developers answers questions at either of those locations. The old (Hugomatic) extensions also work with windows afaik.
