Building Phils sla7051 board

Is anyone or has anyone built Phils 7051 board. I've completed one and if i have time i will test it this weekend. I'm having problems trying to figure out the connects to the bob board. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Dave,
What questions do you have?

Thanks for designing the boards Phil. I had to buy a laser printer to start making pcbs again. I got tired of doing the photocopy thing. The boards came out great when i did the toner transfer. So far i have no problems, but i haven't tried to run the board yet. I need to build the bob board as well so that i can start testing. I've got all the parts sourced now so i should be able to go from here.

Is the connection from the 7051 board at jp3 to the bob all i need. I'm assuming jp1 to be for full/half step and what about jp2 is this to select cw/ccw? What is EL for? Thats all i have any questions about. Other then that, very nice tight little boards.

Dave,
Your in unchartered territory. I really wasn't finished with the board, but in reality the only thing I hadn't done was wire the sync input, and verify the pinout model one last time. JP3 goes to the breakout board. jp2 is for hardware direction setting and one post as a measurement point for the ref setting, jp1 is full or half step. EL is just a measurement point for incomming voltage. E1 and E2 are jumpers if you want to route the onboard +5 to the bob, which is really for future growth for an opto isolated bob. Don't don anything with them now. You'll have to put a jumperwire on the sync pulse, I'll have to look at where to.

I'm in no great hurry at this point. I have one board complete if theres anything you want me to try with i'd be more then happy. The only reason i was working on the board is i happened to have all the parts and i'm making about a dozen pcb's right now to cover my back log of projects.

Yeah although i still haven't worked out the resistors for the vref. Once thats done i can start testing it. The pcb traces came out great with the toner transfer. I did the 3 boards for 7051 and a bob board. I was going to do the ss3977sed board but i can't get it to scale right. For some reason corel draw keeps enlarging the image so large i can't get it to scale right to print.

I also made a pic programmer board, pic lcf meter, an icd2 clone, a thermocouple to pic with 8seg led - don't now if this one will work, i should have built a working one on my solder board, and a couple others. I have a back log of projects to try and complete.

I was going to use my small router to cut out the pcb's but i blew one of the ucn5804 chips and decided to build some of the ones you've designed. I was printing off the pcb's with my bubblejet and then using a photocopier to put them on photo paper, way to much hassle so i waited till i had the money and bought a minolta referb printer from future shop for a $100 dollars. I am in no way endorsing future shop, I really hate buying from the big stores and i tend to deal with the smaller retailers in town but it was alot cheaper then what i had looked at before so it worked out.

Once i get these 3 boards working with the bob then i can get my router back together and start working from there. My idea to make a pic board to drive the stepper drivers is on hold till summer when i can get more of the code down and work on a design which is going to work for me.

Tack a wire on the sync pin of the 7051 to gnd. Doublecheck the layout verses the pinout. I did the model and since you are the first to use it....well I do goof periodically.

Sure thing, i'll have a look at it tonight and post back. So far it all looks good when i compared it to the pinouts on the data sheet. I need to double check the pinouts for the wires i ran to the bob aswell i think i may have done them wrong. No problems though were all human.

sla7029

Is herein somebody who built a board with sla7029? Or, maybe is somebody who has a schematics with sla7029, not that from datasheet, but one which have been, eventually, tested? I got a bunch of sla7029, but really, I do not understand exactly the datasheet and I have not seen any real circuit, and I do not know from where to start. It is pitty to let these sla7029 rest in drawer.
Thank you.
