Exclamation 20A L297 Unipolar Chopper Driver

    Hi!

Project page is here: http://www.dalton.ax/stepper, it contains schematics, board layouts and some of the issues I saw and their resolution.

As you can see, the prototype is up and running. Have tested up to 20A/24V, but running it at that requires some elaborate cooling Posting here to solicit comments before I finalize and order boards readymade. Please feel free to comment. Mail feedback to stepper@dalton.ax.

interesting - thanks for sharing it with us.
Sugestion for improvement : bipolar drive - you will squeeze more torque from same motors.
Maybe starting from a simple schematic like :

Are you also a Kicad fan ? (me too)

Yes, I use KiCAD and it works very well. As for bipolar, yes the thought has crossed my mind, but the object of this excercise was to get this mill and its motors running and 7Nm is well beyond what is needed, so I went for simple.
