Few questions about Linistepper

James I have a few questions about linistepper. Some of those are simple and others are more complex. I have ready a 1.1 version of the work I made (witch you help to publish here and your page) but i want to be sure about this:

1: Who is the author of linistepper? (Roman Black or James Newton?). Anyway, what are the merits of itch one?
2: The Linistepper I modify from Posix work can use pic 16f628 and also 16f84 without any modification, right?...or wrong!
3: Do you now what is the difference between 16f84 and 16f84a? Both of them-just like I see- can by used on Linistepper without any modification?, what about the Hex file you supply on your web page? Some modification here?
4: About power supply: unregulated dc power supply is recommended since the linistepper have power regulation, or better switching, or regulated? (Talking about the power source to motors, not electronics). Notice that i searched your web page to find some answer about this and can’t find anything, perhaps i miss it.

Finally i have a more vital question to make to you and is about the motors I’m going to use. But let my write it in home and send you in few days (Mainly is about the current sensing resistor needed in my project. I’m going to use Astrosyn Minebea 23KM-C051-07V and can’t decide about the better voltage and amp, since I thing that the

Last questions about linistepper

Hello James.
Tank you for the last answers. I assure you this is the last bunch and I will not bother
anymore:

The 3 motors I will use with linistepper are Astrosyn Minebea 23KM-C051-07V, and in the web searches I made appear always with these specs:

- Motor Voltage: 4.0 V
- Current / Phase: 2.0A
- Resistance / Phase: 2.0 Ohm
- Inductance / Phase: 4.4 mH
- Holding Torque: 980 mNm min.
- Dynamic Torque at 600pps: 869 mNm ref.

The label on the motors didn’t say anything about it, except the motor model. However, when I measure resistance coil on it I found 2.4 Ohms between common coils and 3.8-4 Ohms with the other coil…

Now:

1. The measure I have is different to any information on the web. Which one should I dismiss?
I have understand that resistance between common coils is half of the measure with the other coil (counting the 3 witch are together) so the results should be 2.4 and 4.8 Ohms, and I prove it a lot of times on other motors…Why it is different on this? Does mean some kind of miss function?
Or what I think it is: Just miscalculation from my multimeter, witch, like any other, has a small percent of disproportion on its readings? And therefore should I take the specs found on internet pages as good …

2. On Linistepper web page there is mention to a maximum recommended current of 1.5: If I want to take advantage of the 2 amps rated current of my motors and use that…just changing the current sense resistors is enough? (With the addition of a good heatsink, of course); Something else?; Or you suggest keeping everything on 1.5 amps maximum?

3. I’m planning to test with 12 and 14 volts power source with these motors: What is the right current sensing resistor for this?, 0.5 Ohms?(I ask because in the readme file of Posix version, he suggests an equation and it gives my different values than in the “changing current” chapter of your web page.)

4. Perhaps you have this motors or have somebody and tested different values already?

Anyways a million tanks for the help you give my here and again sorry about the time I make you waste.

Buy me a Beer?

1. Reality Rules.
2. Try 1.5, amp up if needed
3. Use 6V, 12 is too much. The sense resistor doesn't care about voltage. current = 1 / ohms. 0.5 ohms will give you 2 amps. See:
http://www.piclist.com/techref/io/st...un.htm#current
4. Nope. Please let everyone know how it works.
