| This do go way back! It was my first effort into chopper drives, so the design was a bit crude. For example, the lm324 op amp was used simply because I had lots of them on hand.It was a good learning experience. Although the basic concept worked, it had several faults. The most serious was that the MCU was not fast enough to service the current control loop properly. A faster MCU and some tweaking of the code would likely solve the problem, but there are several other open source designs which goes much further to implement a complete microstepping drive. I would recommend using those as a reference instead. |
