| I have just completed A working 3 axis engraving/milling machine using J.R. Kerr's pic chips. I designed my own pc boards using eagle. I use 2, 3phase brushless harmonic drive motors for x / y axis. 30 nanometers per quad count. Obviously not real fast. More conventional brushed servo z. I am verry happy with the results. Had some noise issues in the begining with the brushed motor " surprise" but all is working now. His contoured motion does as advertised on his data sheets. It blends smoothly the small steps into a continuous motion. I have only used Desk Engrave " Free ". Some simple edit replace comands are needed but basically runs perfect. I have run some 3000 + lines for a single detailed engraving. No problem.. I am a happy camper. I can provide eagle files and some insight to those interested. The chips are $ 30 each fome Jameco and well worth the price considering Kerr gives software to make a working 3 axis machine. It really does a good job of using the pc's power and the pic's power working together. |

| Hi, I have bought several of the chips and am in the process of making up boards, I would be very interested in looking at your eagle files. Are you using the supplied software or have you modified it any?? Best Regards Andrew |
