choosing the right bipolar motor control IC

i am currently building a mini mill. for use in milling pcbs, high denisty foam, and light metal work. very small build budget so there is ALOT of recycling. i need help on deciding which motor control IC is best. i have 2 types from 2 manufactures. Toshiba TA8435h and ST microelectronics L6219.
