Open Source Hardware Framework Protoyping CNC stuff too!

Hello,

I am one of the founders of the Contraptor.org project. Its a opensource Hardware prototyping framework. We are doing quite a bit of stuff right now, but I assume more than a few of CNC'ers might be interested in our new DIY CNC design.

You can see more about it here:

While you can purchase kits from us we are in no way a real "commercial enterprise" Mainly we are 2 guys that believe in the open source community and want to share our work. That being said we are new to the fab business and was wondering if anyone had any contacts that would be able to produce the contraptor parts for a reasonable price? We currently are contracting to a shopbot owner (which is very cool) but is this the right way to do this? I am not sure.

Anyhow we realize that this community has been doing this sort of thing far longer that we have and would love to hear input on what we are doing.

Thanks,

ril3y

I am buying the contraptor and wonder if when I am done testing it with the adverage dremel if I could mount my drill press head & hope to drill holes in 1" squair steel tube and finger access holes to put together a square steel contraptor cnc mill without unnessisary holes. It does not have the nice modular design you guys have but fallows the same idea. That could help larger fabrication.
