I was hoping to get some feed back on these spindles. I mill a lot of .5 aluminum so I am having run out problems with routers. Will the 2.2kw be large enough to work with ˝ inch aluminum and wonder how it will last? Thanks Ed |

| http://www.kelinginc.net/CNCSpindleandController.html http://cgi.ebay.com/WATER-COOLE-MOTO...t_12082wt_1165 There are many options, see the forum regarding Chinese spindles. I learned a lot! Last edited by diyengineer; 03-16-2010 at 06:13 PM. Reason: update |

| Hi I’m currently using and have been for the past 18 months a 2.2 kW water cooled spindle that I picked up from eBay, It came from China together with the controller. The spindle works fine ( I would estimate that I have used it for approximately 200 hours working with aluminium and 300 to 400 hours working with wood, mostly exotic hardwoods etc.) When I purchased the spindle I payed extra for “German” bearings, those were meant to be better the claimed Jap ones in the standard model? Did I get Germans made bearings?? Who knows but when new I have checked the spindle for “trueness” and it was very good! I had to build a custom cooling system (used an aluminium heater core from a car, couple of computer fans, electric pump and plastic tank) I found that the factory connectors for the coolant at the spindle were too small and I had to modify them to allow better flow, now the temperature of coolant does not go over 40 deg Celsius (this is when milling hard in to aluminium for extended periods of time) also had to purchase a set of collets. Not sure what unit you are looking at getting, but mine came with instructions that were interpreted from Chinese in to English and if it wasn’t for the CNCzones, I would still be scratching my head! Besides, for the money I think they are a reasonable unit provided you don’t get one that was made on Friday |

| I bought a spindle from love happyshopping in April and it worked good for a total of about 5 hours. I was machining acrylic the other day and suddenly the tone of the spindle changed . Upon stopping I noticed about .040 of endplay in the unit. I put my trusty old noisy porter cable back on and finished the job. I have tried to contact Love happy shopping numerous times both on e-bay and by thier private e-mail and have gotten no reply over two weeks. I can only assume he is no longer standinfg behind his products. |

| Lovehappyshopping wouldn't be my preferred supplier based on follow up service, but the original shipment was fast and well communicated, and I did buy on reference of the spindle quality. hth |

I bought one of these on eBay a couple of months ago. It was advertised with "German Bearings" and runout of .005mm. I really didn't expect to get all of that for $211 but at least I'd get something to fix. I did not buy his inverter. Good 3HP inverters (single phase in, three phase out) made by GE, Woods, TECO or Hitachi are available for $175 on the web. http://www.dealerselectric.com/ I ran the spindle for a few minutes at low speed and the bearings sounded dry. I took off the rear cap and found that the rear bearing was from a reputable Japanese bearing manufacturer but the bearing was crap. This particular bearing is only available to the Chinese market. Translation -CHEAP! Runout was not .005mm as advertised, it was actually .05mm, nothing to be proud of. I contacted lovehappyshopping on eBay. He did everything he could to keep me from filing a claim with PayPal. This guy is a real scammer. Lovehappyshopping has several eBay usernames. I wouldn't be surprised if all of the Chinese spindle sellers were him. I talked him into selling me another 2.2KW spindle for $130 delivered. Now I have one to run and one to work on. The second spindle was quieter but will still need new bearings. A set of ABEC-7 bearings will set you back over $300, but are necessary. Re-balance is mandatory and in my case, a collet chuck regrind too (it had an elliptical shape, .010" out). Big caveat: If you think you can just send it back for exchange, take a look at shipping costs. DHL,UPS and FedEx are all $180-$200 to ship a 12 pound package back to China. U.S. Postal Service can get it there for $50 but there is no signature confirmation available. That makes me nervous. Always use an anti-rust additive in your coolant, the end caps are carbon steel though the cooling jacket is aluminum. If you buy one (.8kw, 1.5kw, 2.2kw, 3.0kw) from a seller on eBay (there are resellers in the U.S. also) plan on a bearing swap. It is cheaper to swap the bearings before catastrophic failure at 24,000 rpm wipes out the rotor, stator and your work. This is a good deal if you know what you are buying and can do your own work. The re-balance should only be done by a spindle shop. Your $250 spindle just cost you $1000. Last edited by oneartisan; 06-27-2010 at 05:07 PM. |

| So whos currently the best ebay spindle seller? Love happy shopping? Looking at grabbing a 2.2KW unit in the next few days.. I just don't understand how some of them are $200 dollars but then the same exact unit can also cost $330 dollars. I could see if it had more bearings etc, but they don't mention it at all. whats up with that?! Also, i have a K2 8" z axis on my machine, and it came with the 80MM mount. Do they sell a 100MM mount so i could possibly use a 3KW spindle? Know anyone who would sell a 100mm mount? Thanks!!! |

| I got mine from Love Happy Shopping, he claimed that the bearings in his spindle were German and not Japanese thus why they were a bit more expansive, not sure if I got German Jap or Chinese though?? I sure did pay for German.. Also pay attention to shipping charges as often the cheaper the unit is the more expansive the shipping As far as I know K2 can actually make you a custom mount to any size, as they frequently advertise on eBay |
