Out of angle machine

HI

Its been a long time since I posted here, but my machine is running pretty good now for the last 6 months, only cosmetic things left.

Since I have mostly cut out single pieces, I noticed a problem today, cutting out a fieldbox for my other hobby, rc flying.

As I was to put the pieces together I noticed that the squares are out of angle!!!!

Measuring with an angle a rectangular piece of 9mm plywood is off by 1,8 mm on a 230 mm lenght!!!, how is this possible?

My machine build can be found here, but is not updated in a while.: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showth...t=37703&page=5

The last thing I installed a few months ago was the wire and pulleys in cross to make the gantry rock solid as it was stated in another thread here on the forum.

I have a single belt in the center of my X axis.

BTW the machine is no longer a cantilvered design.

I can post some recent photos for you guys in case you wonder on some design issues

Best reg
Cory

Sounds to me the machine is not running square in X-Y.

Cut out a square/rectangle and measure diagonally across the corners for more accuracy and adjust the machine accordingly .

I just came across your thread, that was my post about adding in the cable system to increase the rigidness. If you apply too much tension to one cable or the other you can pull your machine out of square (I used this feature to square up my machine as I had welded mine together and the heat deformed my rig) you can loosen one cable and tighten the other to correct the out of square situation and still keep your machine rigid.
