Hi I hope I posted this in the right place. What are the best cnc router plans? I want it for engraving in oak, maple. cherry wood. Max. width would be 16" but would prefer 22" Max length would be 36" but would prefer 42" I am looking for the best plans for the money. I will also be doing signs. Most of my work will be engraving cabinet doors. I have seen plans for $500+ but I don't want to pay that much for plans. But I do want a machine that will do a nice tight job. Of all the lower priced plans which is the best machine for the money. Thanks for any help/ Tim tim@mychewybear.com |

David Steel sells plans for 4 tables of various sizes and the wealth of information is extreme in this book. www.solsylva.com take a look at the web site look at every single link and then if you like his thoughts maybe buy those? also here at the zone are the jgro plans too very good ones I'd say. Hi I think I have it down to David Steel's plans or the jgro plans. Can any one give the pro and cons of each of these. I want to do carving in oak, cherry, and maple. If there any other plans out there I should be looking at. What books are there out there that I can start reading on how to program the machine. What is the best software? Thanks for any information. |

I think that you should buy the David Steel plans and then download the jgro read/look through both at length get the feel of the components to make any ole CNC. The best book is this forum! CNCZone has the real world multi-person view that a book cannot show you. As for programming go here http://www.machsupport.com/ and download trial and you MUST go to the tutorial section to get a ton of the best info. This is the program I found that most people here use and I bought it and love it and it is easy to use great support good forum at his site for user help and some of the best programs you can get like http://www.vectric.com feed right to it. Now please remember my posts are my opinions I encourage you to find out more find what feels or works good for you. Share your expirence here with others dont be shy to ask questions and most of all HAVE FUN building it!. I would say any plan from jgro or www.solsylva.com will do the materials your looking at. Go to my thread and read through it and watch the 2 most recent videos to see 200ipm machine based on the solsylva plans. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29877 (shameless plug sorry) just my .0002 worth Coog
