C-Clamp threaded rod...

Ok I am including a doctored image with this post but here goes the weird question of the day...

I i cut a c-clamp as shown in the pic then attach to the ends and the middle piece attaches to the back of my Z-car wouldnt this server as a threaded rod with built in nut?

Any thoughts?

C-clamps are acme thread. Would be cheaper to just use acme.

I was wondering if it was acme thread. I was suggesting it as it has a built on attachment piece that you could grind to what ever you needed by cutting off the "C"

I just wouldn't sacrifice one of my clamps for a small piece of screw and nut. ACME rod and nuts are cheap.

The C clamp body is cast or forged steel which is not a good material for the nut. You would probably get rapid wear on both screw and nut and also run the risk of the thread galling up.

Well it was a thought and I got to post ideas like these to make sure they are or aernt worthy.

Thanks for the input. AND the useful find of WT tools so I can get ACME at a reasonable price.
