I bought 4 of those clamps from Grizzly some time ago. The ones I got were very poorly made. However, with a little work, I got them to fit my machine. Here's a link: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/diy-cn...am_clamps.html
I found these hold down clamps from Grizzly
H5740 Cam Clamp and although the price for each is high I think they are pretty good because of the low profile they have.
But I wonder how good they are to hold aluminum. The description says that the cam action applies a forward / downward pressure which may be good for wood but for aluminum don’t know how good they will bite
Anyone has experience with them?

The only time I would use clamps like you have shown is when I'm surfacing the part when step clamps will get in the way.
I made some of these from UHMW and they work great.
Step clamp
Thank You.
That is what I thought, I will not use them to hold aluminum
