Version 1.0 Controller build

The following will document my first attempt at building a DIY benchtop CNC
Mill.

I'm brand new to this, so please keep criticism constructive.

The first step was to assemble the parts for and build the electronics. I view myself as being pretty mechanical, so the Electronics was going to be my biggest hurdle. Figured I start with that first.

Started with a box of parts assembled over the last few months, and a PC case.

Then Modded the PC case to fit some of the components.

Removed the drive bay.

Because I'm using the Dragon Drivers, I found a step down transformer with an output of 24v ac and 28v ac.

Started playing with the layout.

Then came the wiring.

I seem to be missing a few photos. Sufice it to say, I modded teh hell out of a 350 watt ATX pc power supply. Using the power switch to also switch the ac to the transformer. Its fused at 10amps.

Decided to mount the breakout board to the back of the case making hookup easy.

I was going to solder the 5v dc power to the breakout board directly, but didnt feel confident enough to do it, so I just wired up a cable the the 5v output, and ran the cable externally.

Decided to mount the drivers on shelves with velcro so that they can be removed for ease of wiring/modifications.

Added a litlle blue LED bling,

Wired up the Steppers series Bipolar. The drivers are limited to 4 outputs.

Running Vexta 266 steppers. Wired in the above way, I've maxed out the driver amperage to 2.5a.
