Hi guys did post this in gecko forum , but know roman is behind 2 things I asked there.

Quick question on a gecko 540 are there enough input/output pins for : superpid spindle control / hall effect limit/home switches With leds. & tool probe .
Cheers

Buy me a Beer?

yes there is have x,y,z limit in terminal 1 x,y home in terminal 2 probe in terminal 3 you set z limit as home as well.
superpid goes into Pos 7 VFD GROUND, Pos 8 VFD OUTPUT, Pos 9 VFD +10VDC
thats how i have it set and it works good.

hi john_100
i measured the voltage at a conection i put on the wire not at terminals,
before i put in 2k resistors mach3 could not find switch as i used auto set function. when i put 2 k resistors on input wire mach3 found it and set it with out any problem on diagnostics screen when i move magnet in front of hall switch light comes on for home switch that it is set to.

Can I use some SS40A's as well?

I have some fresh ones laying around from my brushless ebike motor.

Do you guys see a problem using these on a cnc plasma?

To Foam27- Hi, and sorry you can't use the SS40A. That is a "bipolar" hall switch, it needs a north pole (approx 50 gauss) to turn the switch ON, then to make it turn OFF it needs a south pole (approx -50 gauss).

Although you might be able to rig some special magnet arrangement to get it to work I really recommend using the SS441 as suggested everywhere in this thread.

Is there anyway to configure mach 3 to combine my Z zero probe and a limit switch on the same input?

You can combine the probe with a Home switch, but not a limit switch.

Ok so if I just put it as a home I could then do soft limits on either side of the home switch correct?

I'm designing a 4th axis for my MF70, made for 90% of POM (planetary gear and housing) and want to use 2 hall sensors for homing position. The first one for indicating the 'rough' position, the second one on the planetrary wheel carrier for position refining, 50 times more accurate as with 1 sensor.
Therefore I was thinking to put the output of the first sensor to the ground of the second sensor. The output of the second sensor to the BOB with a pull-up resistor.

For using the sensors I see 2 options:
- putting in the sensors inside the housing by machining the right shape and holes
- putting the sensors outside and guide the magnetic field through the wall by using a steel pin

What would you recommend

Regards, Leo
