    Driver = Electronics to power the motor
    Break out board = PCB to wire PC parallel port to drivers.

    The "Chopper Thingy" works perfectly I have got one axis of the 3 axis board and the chopper converter built and have been spinning a motor with it just now. At 1.75 amps/phase nothing gets hot,the fets are barely warm. I'll layout a 3 axis version but if you want to order the parts it should be safe to go ahead.

    The driver board input filter might be a bit marginal for Mach1 etc it works but the 74hc14 isn't getting a full voltage swing from the clock input. I will get back with the proposed changes probably just changing the 10k resistors to 4k7.

    I haven't tried pushing for speed yet just initial testing at 15 volts with a 2.5 volt motor, 8000 steps/sec. The maximum clock pulse width for mach1 seems to be 14uS which matches the filter now that i have done the calculation (70kHz) i had a solder bridge (not in the filter)when i put the board together. Trouble shooting with my logic probe(not the one on the board) i couldn't see the clock pulses on the output of the filter - hence my suspusion it might be marginal. But now i think its probably ok.

    Does your spice have any graphical capabilities? I'd be interested in the waveforms of the chopper adapter.

    If anyone is interested, here is the Newark part numbers I dug up for the one axis unipolar discrete board.
    I had some problems finding the right capacitors, the 0.1uf is still missing. I need a hand with those.
    For those who dont have DigiKey nearby it might be helpful (I hope).

    Here is some of the spice output for the chopper converter. The simulated motor has 1mH and 2 ohms on each half winding and the supply is 40 volts.
    Cyan is the output voltage and orange the current supplied by the mosfet. Blue is the current in the undriven half winding ie the flyback current which flows in both half windings and is half the value of the current from the supply as it's flowing in twice as many windings. Magenta is the gate drive wave form.

    Here is the 3 axis chopper converter it's designed to mount on top of the driver board. There holes can be drilled in it to allow screwdriver access to the screw terminals below. I have also broken out the extra parallel port signals from the 10 pin header to screw terminals.
