(I couldn't find any rules against posting this, so I hope not to step on anyone's toes.)

The Spartan Project has been started over at HighTechDIY.com.

The purpose of the Spartan Project is to design an inexpensive, open, easy to build, yet very functional entry-level CNC machine. The hope is that by providing a simple build, with good instructions, we can lower the barriers to entry that stop many from owning such an awesome tool currently.

Everything about the design is up for debate, and the results are totally open-source. We could use the help of anyone... from the insight of a beginner and what they find are the biggest hurdles, to the CNC veteran that can provide wisdom about various design pitfalls.

It's a fun, open environment, where we can help bring more people into our great hobby.
