hass d offsets

any have any experience with haas macro programming? looking to reduce or increase radius values w/o using so many d offsets. and then loop them in an m97. any help?

I am not sure you need to worry about macros; you can change tool diameter values using a G10 command:

G10 L12 G90 P1 R.5 sets the tool diameter for tool 1 to 0.5" and if you use G91 you can do it incrementally:

G10 L12 G91 P1 R.1 increments the tool diameter by .1"

You could put and incremental G10 c0mmand in a loop that you call using the L count with the M97.

does the "p" refer to the tool#. if it were tool 2, would it then be p2 an so on for all the others?

Yes that is correct P is the tool number.

Actually with Haas the diameter offset does not have to be the same number as the tool so really the P is the offset number, the D number you put on the G41 or G42 line.

you the man. is there any way to do this with height or the tool length? if so please keep in mind at my place we do not measure tools but offset them from the top of the part. in other words all the tool lengths are negative values rather positive and i did not know if that plays a role in height adjustment.

I think the answer is yes, but why do you want to do that?

as i would want to open the radius to stay away and then close it to finish, i would do the same thing to finish the floor of a pocket or floor of some sort. if i had to cut a 2x2 pocket half inch deep i would open the radius .005 and raise the tool .005. run the sub then close the radius .005 and drop the tool .005 and run the same sub to finish everything achieving a smooth wall and floor and excellent pependiclarity, which when building molds, along with flatness is a must. going to finish depth removing all that material makes the pocket floor pretty wavy. we also use hanita so we do do a lot of roughing and finishing with one tool.

got any s.s. machining experience had some reamer problems in stainless and be a mold builder at one time i definately put in my share of reamed holes.

If you are dealing with small increments like that maybe you could use the wear value; I think you can enter wear values with a G10 command, it would be a different combination of L and P in the G10 line. Do you have the Haas manual it has all the stuff on G10.
